TOWN OF BLADENSBURG
COUNCIL MEETING
September 11, 2006

I. CALL TO ORDER: Mayor James called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with Council Members Ficklin, George and Mendoza present. Council Member Watson was excused.

II. OPENING PRAYER: Ms. Halloway gave the opening prayer.

III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Council Member Mendoza led the Pledge.

IV. PROCLAMATION: NATIONAL SPANISH HERITAGE MONTH: The Town Clerk read the Proclamation by Mayor and Council giving September 15-Oct 15 this recognition.

V. CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION: On behalf of the Pastoral/Lay Council, Council Member Ficklin presented youth participants in the Day in the Park fashion show with certificates.

VI. ANNOUNCEMENT OF CLOSED SESSION: Mayor James announced a closed session to discuss personnel issues following the September Worksession.

VII. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Friends of Bostwick: Council Member Mendoza moved to support the Articles of Incorporation for the Friends of Bostwick; Council Member George seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

VIII. WORDS OF REMEMBRANCE FOR SEPTEMBER 11, 2001:

A student, Veteran and others spoke on how that days events changed the lives of Americans.

IX. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 and a candlelight vigil in Remembrance of 9/11/01 followed on the lawn in front of Town Hall.
