TOWN OF BLADENSBURG
WORKSESSION
July 5, 2005

I. CALL TO ORDER: Mayor McGrory called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with Council Members Ficklin, Hoffman, James and Watson present.

II. INTRODUCTION OF STUDENT INTERN FROM PRINCE GEORGES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION: Town Administrator Sarumi introduced Jerred Burnett, who will be gathering data for the Town Center Project.

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Council Member Hoffman moved to approve the June Worksession minutes as presented. Council Member James seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

IV. LIVABLE COMMUNITIES: Council Member Ficklin introduced Mr. Bridgeman, who runs the Employability Program for the County.

V. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

MOU with Colmar Manor for Bus Services: Council Member James moved to approve the revised language to the MOU. Council Member Hoffman seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

ATHA Priorities: Council Member James moved to support the Town Center/Bostwick and Market Masters/Market Center Projects as two Town priorities for ATHAs planning. Council Member Hoffman seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

Grant/Designation Applications: Mayor and Council directed staff to move forward on Community Legacy, MHAA, and Priority Place applications.

Resolution 6-2005: Capital Financing: The resolution to support the purchase of three police cars, will be voted on at the July Council Meeting.

Project List: The list was reviewed and updated.

VI. NEW BUSINESS

Summer Playgrounds: Council Member Hoffman expressed concern that the Town Youth have easy access to the programs at the elementary schools.

Proposed Noise Ordinance: Town Attorney Shay will write a letter to the Liquor Board about concerns over noise infractions at nighclubs. The Town needs to ensure we are receiving proper admissions and amusement taxes generated from live entertainment.

Certificate of Approval for BVFD Refinancing: On July Council Meeting Agenda

IX. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, at 9:00 p.m. Council Member Hoffman moved to adjourn. Council Member Watson seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
